STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENT (SOR)
For
Chair Alarms
Introduction

The Truman VA Medical Center Patient Care Services are in search of a chair alarming system that will auditorily notify the nurses when a patient is attempts to get up from their seated position without having nurse assistance to prevent potential patient falls.

Background:

In a recent RCA finding they concurred that in every patient room there should be a chair alarming system that would, be connected to nurse call system to notify nurses of a patient attempting to get up without assistance that is a potential fall risk. This in turn would help patient safety concerns and help elevate patient fall risks in the facility. Currently we have the Posey Sitter on Cue alarm in a portion of our facility and are requiring equipping the remaining patient rooms. We are requesting a purchase of 55 8645 Sitter on cue alarms and 8282 nurse call cables to comply with the RCA finding.

Technical Requirements:

The chair alarm shall be compatible with the single use patient chair sensor pad: part number 8309EL.
The chair alarm shall be compatible with the current nurse call system: Vocera
Dual ports for easy patient transfer.
The chair alarm to be rechargeable/battery operated.
Have a hold button that silences the alarm for a period while the patient is being transferred.
