The Library of Congress (Library) requires a contractor to provide food and beverage concessions services for Library events. Library events will regularly feature special conversations, music, performances, films, collection displays, and activities that showcase the broad range of holdings at the national library. The events will be offered free of charge to the public but may require tickets distributed by an independent, third party ticketing service provider.

At present every Thursday evening, visitors are invited to enjoy happy hour drinks and snacks available for purchase in the Great Hall of the Library’s Thomas Jefferson Building, overlooking the Capitol and the Thomas Jefferson Building’s beautiful architecture while immersing themselves in the Library’s exhibits, collections and programs. The Library of Congress launched Live at the Library on Thursday, May 5, 2022, offering for sale food and beverage concessions on Thursdays evenings when the Jefferson Building exhibitions are open late. There was an average number of 505 nightly visitors between May-September, not including Library staff and researchers who may not have been scanned in as visitors. With new marketing initiatives expected to increase visitor traffic during this time, the Library expects Live at the Library to grow and become an evening experience destination for visitors to the Washington, DC area and a date spot for locals.

The contractor may be required to provide food and beverage concessions at Live at the Library and/or other Library events. The other events may not be offered free of charge to the public.
