Notice of Intent to Not Compete b - Prufbau Calibration and Preventative Maintenance Services



The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) Office of the Chief Procurement Officer on behalf of Office of Quality Operations intends to award a sole source follow-on contract for multipurpose Printability Tester services by Prufbau. The MZ-II is used for the support of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing as well as the Office of Quality Operations DCF/Supplier Quality Division mission. The Prufbau MZ-II Multipurpose Printability Tester is solely made by Prufbau in Peissenberg, Germany. Prufbau has not certified outside sources to do preventive maintenance, calibration and repairs to this equipment to meet or exceed ISO 9001 quality requirements.



The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), Washington, DC Currency Facility (DCF) utilizes the Prufbau Printability Testers and UV Dryer for preparing prints for test results and research studies which support production and for the development of new security features in currency as well as other secure documents on behalf of the United States Government. 1.2 Scope: The Bureau of Engraving and Printing has a requirement for preventive maintenance, calibration, emergency repair services and parts for the two (2) Multipurpose Printability Testers and one (1) UV Dryer. Prufbau Printability Testers and the UV Dryers must be calibrated and certified annually for product quality validation from test results. 1.3 Description of Services: The contractor shall supply all personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items necessary to perform the services to provide calibration and preventive maintenance services, and emergency repairs with any needed parts for the repairs of the two (2) Prufbau MZ-II Multipurpose Printability Testers (serial number:52001700 and serial number: 52001706) and (1) UV Dryer to the standards defined in this PWS



The Government intends to award a sole source contract to Prufbau utilizing “Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements” IAWFAR Subpart 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii). Anticipated award date will be Feb 22, 2023.



This notice of intent is not a request for competitive offers/quotes/proposals. A determination not to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The solicitation will not be posted. To be considered, responses MUST be received NO LATER THAN 12:00PM, EASTERN STANDARD TIME, February 10, 2023. Responses MUST be submitted in writing only within the closing date/time of publication of this notice.
